Blockdaemon allows Web 3.0 developers and institutions to run their own assembly nodes on the Astar network

August 24, 2022 – Los Angeles, California

Astar Network, the innovation hub on Polkadot, is delighted to announce that it has onboarded Blockdaemon, the world’s largest institutional-grade blockchain infrastructure company for node management and staking, as a Collector .

The partnership will allow institutional and individual Blockdaemon users to start their own assembly nodes with Astar Network.

Although Astar supports users running their own assembly nodes, it is still technically out of reach for many people and institutions joining its network.

Blockdaemon’s suite of products and tools includes a total “node stack” of blockchain technology, allowing any eligible project access to the Astar network.

As a node infrastructure provider, Blockdaemon will provide Websocket and RPC endpoints for projects wishing to rely on the network.

Often it is not possible for many projects, developers and companies to build and maintain their own Astar node to access these services. Blockdaemon’s years of node blockchain expertise specifically for the Polkadot ecosystem significantly lowers the barrier to entry for projects built on Astar.

Blockdaemon’s full node support provides a critical on-ramp for Astar DApp developers and institutions. Rather than relying on public infrastructure, which can be under heavy load from many different sources, or facing the ongoing challenges of running an Astar node on its own, it is now possible to outsource Astar node requirements to Blockdaemon.

Cecilia Feng, Head of Strategic Protocols Research at Blockdaemon, said:

“We are excited to integrate with Astar to improve accessibility for developers and institutions. Astar connects the Polkadot ecosystem to all major layer-1 blockchains by integrating interoperability for a multi-chain future.

“By combining Blockdaemon’s institutional-grade infrastructure with Astar’s rich technology stack, we look forward to supporting network health and providing a critical on-ramp for Astar DApp developers.”

Sota Watanabe, Founder and CEO of Astar Network, said:

“We are very excited to have a partnership with Blockdeamon. This partnership allows us to create a more reliable and robust network and explore new use cases like DOT liquid staking. Together with Blockdeamon and our infra partners, we will do our best to give developers the best experience.”

Assemblers maintain parachains by collecting parachain transactions from users and producing proof of state transition for relay chain validators. Unlike validators, assembly nodes do not secure the network. If a parachain block is invalid, it will be rejected by validators.

More users will strengthen the Astar network and play a crucial role in producing blocks, collecting transactions and producing state transition proofs for relay chain validators.

Blockdaemon is the largest independent blockchain infrastructure platform connecting institutions and developers to major networks.

Founded in 2017, Blockdaemon manages over 50,000 nodes on behalf of its over 200 institutional clients including exchanges, custodians, liquidity providers and neobanks and supports over 55 blockchain networks such as Polkadot, Kusama, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.

As Astar builds the future of smart contracts for multi-channel, it wants to attract developers and institutional interests. In addition to allowing new users and businesses to join Astar, Blockdaemon will collaborate with Astar Network at future hackathons and networking events. Developers who rely on Astar can deploy their DApps with EVM and WASM smart contracts while providing true interoperability and cross-consensus messaging (XCM).

About Astar Network

Astar Network is the future of smart contracts for multi-channel. Astar Network supports the creation of DApps with EVM and WASM smart contracts and offers developers true interoperability, with cross-consensus messaging (XCM).

We are made by developers for developers. Astar’s unique build-to-earn model allows developers to get paid through a DApp staking mechanism for the code they write and the DApps they create.

Astar’s vibrant ecosystem has become the leading Polkadot parachain globally, supported by all major exchanges and top tier VCs. Astar offers the flexibility of all Ethereum and WASM tools for developers to start building their DApps.

To accelerate growth on the Polkadot and Kusama networks, Astar SpaceLabs offers an incubation hub for the best TVL DApps.
