Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp have been offline since before noon (ET). Here, find out what happened and other apps to use to chat while waiting.
Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down shortly before noon (ET). Meanwhile, some Telegram users also reported a to slow down and some notification issues, but the app stay active and globally stable. Twitter still working and laughing at the situation, of course.
Websites and applications for all departments were responding with server errors. “We are aware that some people have difficulty accessing our applications and products”, tweeted the official Whatsapp account. “We are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Users have started reporting issues on DownDetector.com. It looks like the outages are widespread, but Facebook, the owner of the apps, hasn’t said anything official about user impacts. It is not currently known what is causing the outage.
Whatsapp is down: alternative messaging apps
Until there 43% of users reported problems sending messages and 28% failed trying to establish a connection to the server. Of course, people panic a bit and try to find alternatives to chat.
While this isn’t the first time these apps have gone down (remember 2019), many people still consider them their favorites. But, maybe it’s time to find another application at least for today. Here you have a few alternatives:

This messaging app was developed by Open Source Systems, which created end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
The application has all the features of WhatsApp and Telegram, but also allows calling users who do not have LINE.
The San Francisco-based app is known for its free service and is quite popular among gamers.
If you have an iPhone or Apple product, you can use their own messaging system.
