Difference Between Mute and Ignore Facebook Messenger
Muting messages is a pretty old concept. You might know how to turn off any chat on Whatsapp or Instagram, and if you don’t, turning off a chat will stop the notification you receive from that particular chat.
On the other hand, Ignore is the same as Mute but a cut above you can call it an advanced version of Mute. Previously the ignore option was only available for Messenger and not on other apps, but now you have the same option on Whatsapp also under the name of âarchived conversationsâ.
The mute option simply turns off all notifications for a particular chat, it’s like putting your phone on silent for an individual chat. So, you can turn off those family Whatsapp groups and you won’t be bothered by the bombardment of messages.
The Ignore option, however, removes that person’s discussion from the discussion menu and places the discussion in a different section under the name âMessage requestsâ. This is very useful for the types of groups that you never wanted to be a part of but had to make, and now you are irritated by the notifications it sends to your phone.
