The Google Chat desktop app and web client, as well as the Progressive Web App (PWA) are getting Dark Mode with a new update. This occurs about a year after the Google chat application for Android and ios received dark mode. Google announced the rollout in a blog post, where the company said users will be able to change their theme by going to settings. The update is happening in a phased fashion, so if any Google Chat users don’t see dark mode, they will receive the update shortly, as the rollout is expected to take 15 days to reach all users. Along with this Google Chat update, Google is also bringing a Google Calendar update where the company will allow users to add workplaces and update their location if plans change.
Google says dark mode on the Google Chat web client, desktop app, and progressive web app cannot be controlled by the administrator, and it is entirely up to the user to select their theme. Users can switch to dark mode in Google Chat by going to Settings> Theme settings and selecting Dark mode. The procedure is the same for all three clients. The new functionality will be available to all Google Workspace customers as well as to G Suite Basic and Business users.
Apart from that, the new functionality of Google Calendar allows users to add their workplace directly to the calendar. Users can add their place of work for the week and modify it as they wish. With this feature, users will be able to show others which days of the week they will be at work.
