Here’s how you can lock Telegram and your messages on iPhone using Touch ID or Face ID for ultimate privacy.
Secure your Telegram app by locking it using Touch ID or Face ID on iPhone
If you are a Telegram user on iPhone and want to boost your privacy a bit and secure your account, you have the option to lock things down using a PIN and Touch ID / Face ID. In today’s tutorial, we’ll show you how you can do it.
Step 1. Launch Telegram on your iPhone
Step 2. Press Settings at the bottom right
Step 3. Press Privacy and Security
Step 4. Now select Access code and facial identification. It is important that you enable this feature in the first place if you care about your privacy. Also, this is required to enable Face ID and Touch ID unlock function
Step 5. Once the PIN is in place, you will see a new option called Unlock with Face ID Where Unlock with Touch ID. Press to activate
That’s it, every time you launch the Telegram app on your iPhone, it will ask you to authenticate using Touch ID or Face ID. Basically, if someone knows your iPhone passcode, they won’t be able to join your Telegram conversation.
Just like Telegram, you also have the option to lock WhatsApp. And it’s great that services like these go the extra mile to ensure user privacy in case they forget their phone somewhere lying around. But, what happens in the cloud when you press that send button is guessable at this point.
But, it is better to take the necessary precautions on your end to ensure maximum privacy and security. If something goes wrong after that, you can at least openly blame the manager.
We really wish Apple would allow users to lock certain apps using Touch ID or Face ID as well. Surprisingly, this luxury can be easily achieved if you have a jailbroken iPhone with the proper setting installed. Without it, you’re left at the mercy of the good old PIN with Face ID and Touch ID.
