IPification has unveiled a new IM Auth service that allows mobile app developers to verify their users’ identities through some of the world’s most popular instant messaging (IM) channels. The IM Auth service is compatible with WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram services, and will greatly increase the potential number of IPification customers.
To take advantage of the new IM Auth service, developers will first need to integrate the solution into their own mobile apps. Once done, end users will be able to open their favorite instant messaging service to send a message directly to that IPification branded account. They can then complete the authentication process with two more clicks on their device.
According to IPification, the new service will increase conversion and retention rates for businesses looking to attract more digital customers. The company also claims the technology is more secure than one-time SMS passwords that are sent as traditional text messages.
The IM Auth service will not replace IPification’s existing SIM card and IP based one-click authentication service, which is offered through partnerships with participating mobile network operators. However, it will extend IPification coverage to anyone with a WhatsApp, Viber or Telegram account. This means that people will be able to use the company’s services regardless of their location, and even if their mobile operator does not have a formal agreement with IPificaiton.
“IM Auth is extremely important to IPification as it extends our coverage to almost the entire planet via WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram,” said Stefan Kostic, CEO of IPification. “We are very pleased to be able to offer our secure and frictionless authentication to mobile app developers, even if their users are not using SIM cards from one of our MNO partners.”
IPification has forged phone verification partnerships in the UK and Switzerland, and also provides coverage for 98% of the mobile market in Cambodia. The company’s services are now available through the OmniShop application development platform.
