Hyderabad: Web Werks, a data center and cloud services company, has acquired a standalone building in Hyderabad which will be converted into its first data center in the city’s commercial business district. The company will invest more than Rs 500 crore in this data center and employ around 100 people by the end of 2022, sources told Telangana Today.
The new highly interconnected data center will offer 1,20,000 square feet of colocation space supported by a large electrical capacity of up to 10 MVA of raw power with a planned IT load of up to 6 MW. The first phase of delivery is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2022.
Talking about the development, Nikhil Rathi, CEO of Web Werks, said, “For Telangana, which has implemented data center policy, this is another important expansion for us. HITEC City attracts Hyperscalers and offers a diverse array of businesses, including IT, insurance, biotechnology, financial institutions, and the service industry.
The facility will allow customers to quickly scale their digital transformation strategies by deploying mission-critical infrastructure in a global data center that will deliver capacity, cloud and connectivity. Web Werks and Iron Mountain Data Centers offer over 19 facilities in India, USA, Europe and APAC.
“Hyderabad is one of the largest DC markets in India with an expected growth of tripling its capacity by 2026,” added Michael Goh, vice president and general manager, APAC Iron Mountain Data Centers.
Web Werks currently operates Tier III data centers in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Pune. Upcoming facilities include a second 12.5 MVA stand-alone data center in Navi Mumbai and a 10 MVA stand-alone data center in Bangalore.
With a combined footprint of 2,25,000 square feet, Web Werks operates three strategically located data centers in Mumbai, Pune and Delhi NCR. The company currently operates 10 megawatts (MW) with 850 customers.
